For years I'd seen pictures in wakeboard magazines, taken at something called "cable parks." Two years ago I tried out the one outside of Miami - Wow! What a great concept!
A quick Google and I learned that there were only 4 in America, yet something like 40 in Germany alone. Good ol' American liability concerns, I guess.
The closest one to us in the Bay Area was in Tulsa, I think.
Then I heard that someone's trying to get one opened in SoCal - a place called Santee Lakes. I sent an email, asking to be kept in the loop.
I just received an email stating that the folks trying to open the cable park have an important meeting with the city council on August 12th, and could use some support. Moments ago I contacted the city council and told them the truth: if there's a park there, I will come, use it, and spend money in local hotels and restaurants. I encourage others to contact them as well. Google "Santee lakes cable board park" to learn more. Then contact the city and Parks/Rec, and tell them what you think!

Re: Please support plans for SoCal cable park...
Thanks for posting this. I went to Revolution cable park in Ft. Myers, FL last month and it was an absolute blast. I would definitely make a trip down to SoCal to visit one there.
It would be great to have one up here, but something tells me it would never make it past permitting in NorCal.

Berkeley Aquatic Park - Would that be the perfect place, or what!
(But while we wait for one to be built up here, we need to support the construction of the SoCal facility. Make some calls!)

i remember reading about this last year. or was it the year before that? I think they've been working on this for a long long time. I really hope they get it done, if they do, they will make gobs of money.

Aquatic park in Berkeley would be sick. The waterski club has used it for years, although it seems they're only out a couple times a year. At first thought, it seems very unlikely Berkeley would ever permit a cable park, but you never know, they've got a skatepark. One can hope!

I've been thinking about that location for years. Very underutilized by the boat-folks, and I doubt that they do a fraction of what we would be able to do for the local community.
Uh oh... I've just given away my secret plan to get rich... Everyone needs to forget about Berkeley, and focus on getting the SoCal park off the ground!

you know, we could just all chip in for a winch....seems like using a winch at aquatic park would be pretty easy to get authorization for. and would be almost as much fun as a cable park.
or maybe we should just convince yuri to make us one.
