Eclipse 2009 Website live and the first Wave dedicated kite

For all the 2009 Eclipse gear check out the new http://www.eclipsekites.com

I love being a part of this young company because they listen to what the riders want. Over the last couple years, we've really seen a change in what kind of waves we can ride and how we ride them. I, personally could count the number of twin-tip sessions I've had in the last year on one hand. For me, I am constantly chasing that surf feeling with the kite. For years, I would get into a wave and just want to ditch the kite and surf. Well, Eclipse has the solution in 2009. The all new Wave-dedicated, Kima in wave specific sizes 4,6,9m.

Image

"Eclipse makes products for a purpose, when I tried the KIMA I knew eclipse nailed it 100% with this kite, that was the first SLE kite I could use in the waves! Eclipse does a great job-making top of the line performance products. I like the simple and progressive approach Eclipse brings to the sport." - Felix Pivec

The Kima does everything a wave kite should. It creates power where there is none, it just backs up and waits as you ride towards it, and it depowers instantly when you want to create space. Want to ride unhooked? No problem. The Kima will just fade while you hit the lip and be waiting for you when you are ready to hook back in.

For the Freestyler's and racers out there, this years Thruster is the kite to look out for as it boosts bigger than ever and has some incredible hang-time. I don't know how they do it but they make the big sizes feel like small kites yet boost incredibly huge. The Thruster is also a great race kite as it goes to windward like you wouldn't believe and it does a great fade as you race downwind towards the kite. If any of the top ten racers this year in the Thursday Night series are looking for a new ride, I guarantee this kite will move you up in the ranks.

Image

The Thruster is also the top choice of Arial artist, Dimitri Maramenides who likes to ride the 10 meter in just about all conditions. Dimitri is known for his innovative, dynamic moves at altitude and that is exactly what the Thruster is designed for.

Image

The new 2009 Nano is the real sleeper. This is a kite that I thought we were just putting out for beginners and as a price point option. I have been riding the 9m in the waves and on the flat water and I love it. Many of our snowkiters can't say enough good things about this kite and as it turns out this kite is what every wake style rider is looking for; a buckety kite that sits back a bit in the window and allows the rider to get great pop. It has some horizontal yank on it to help create that slacked lines the wake style rider is looking for.

Image

Our snowkiters up in Oregon can't get enough of this kite and I can wait to get up there in the snow. I've been getting photos and videos emailed to me by our snowkite specialist in Oregon from southern oregon kite addicts, Matt Thames and I can't believe the quality riding we have within a 6 hour drive of the bay. I propose a road trip. Matt has organized the 2nd annual Snow Daze this year and I plan to attend for sure.

Check out this video that Matt sent me this morning from the southern oregon mountains.

So how could it get any better? How about the industries best warranty!

In the event your kite is damaged, we will fix it for FREE no questions asked. The Bullet Proof Warranty is the only warranty that covers all damage to your kite accidental or otherwise. This means you can crash your kite into a tree, boat, house or whatever- and we will fix it with no questions asked!

So as the season approaches and you are making your decisions as to your new gear purchases, try out an Eclipse. We have everything to suit all styles. If you would like to join me on a road trip to Oregon for the Snow Daze, let me know.

We're always looking for some good ambassadors to help represent the brand, so if you think you have what it takes to be a Team Rider, shoot me an email with a resume.

Live2Kite is taking delivery on a large order in the next week so if you want to get your hands on the kites, contact myself or Evan.

Just in from SBC Kiteboard 2009 gear tests:

Here are the direct links for the Eclipse kites. The SBC test team was very impressed.

http://www.sbckiteboard.com/2009_kite_r ... uniqid=502

http://www.sbckiteboard.com/2009_kite_r ... niqid=1338

Some quotes from the results:

The Thruster:
Bottom line

The Thruster gets top marks for quick, direct steering, fast cruising speed and easy-to-access performance. This is a premium design that any intermediate or advanced rider can have fun with. It easily matches any big-boosting, big-hangtime kites on the market and has the versatility to perform in every discipline.

The Nano:
On-water performance

The Nano is a quick, pivotal-turning kite that has a ton of grunt and easy get-up-and-go. It is clear why beginners love it: it gets you up quickly but doesn’t run away in the speed department. Steering on the Nano is direct and bar pressure gives the positional feedback beginners need and wave or wakestyle riders prefer. This is a fun kite to ride in the waves, with great stability and solid drift action.
While it doesn’t have the biggest pop or huge glide of the Thruster, the Nano lends confidence to any rider looking to push into the next level. It flies well unhooked and doesn’t pull too hard off the back lines like some beginner SLE’s out there. Depower is adequate and comes on despite the shorter throw line set up with this kite. Water relaunch is quick and easy, always an essential element on any kite positioned to the beginner or waverider.

So just some unbiased reviews from SBC's testing team. Now go try for your self!

Hey, Gabe.
All due respect. First off, I like Eclipse Kites (I've flown them) and I always root for the company- Dmitri and Chris are awesome guys and they foster a good spirit in the kiteboarding world- but the Kima is not the first dedicated wave kite out there, not by at least four years now... Ollie, remember these? ;)

Yeah, Antijf I rode those too back in the day and I was told to push them as both a wave kite and a freestyle kite. By definition that excludes them from being a dedicated wave kite. Oliie, where did you ride them?

The Kima is for the waves. I would not sell it to anyone who did not plan to ride the majority of the time in the waves. That is why we can make a claim as to the first dedicated wave kite. You can't call something a wave kite and then push it to flat water riders... That wouldn't make it dedicated now would it?

I am smiling reading all this.
You gotta love marketing.

Jeff is going after the pure definition of dedicated wave kite. And he is right.
RRD was the very first company that even believed in wave riding with a kite.
2004 Type Wave was introduced.... you remember it Gabe.... and then 2005 Type Wave2 was on the market... still the Wave program pushed by only one company.

No-one is saying anything about how good or bad Kima's are. They are actually killer kites and we are stoked to sell them ..... but for a fact they are not the first dedicated wave kites on the market. Maybe they are the first dedicated wave kites in 2009 which is great.

Now let's get some riding in :-) where is the wind?

The great thing about the Type Wave's was that they were killer for wave riding with instant huge depower and very fast turning but great for freestyle too, super fun kites...
