Cable Parks?

Post by ledhead1191 » Fri May 23, 2008 6:46 pm

I am seeing a lot of cable park clips in recent kiting videos and I was wondering if there are any in the area? They look fun as hell, and with what looks to be a lame weekend coming up, I thought I'd bring it up.

Hmm...should this go in the off-topic forum?

My guess is that CA laws and regulations will make it impossible here. most of those you see are some other state like Texas.

Cable parks are tons of fun.
There are many in areas with a lot of lake water, such as FL, TX etc.
There are no private lakes in CA that I know of which can host a cable park...wish....

I came very close to doing this but realized that a gas engine running on the edge of the water would only attract cops and old ladies. It would really need to be a 2 person deal to keep it safe and the thought of all that work for just a 1000' ride-forget it. i even bought one of those banshee river board bungees but it doesnt have the pull to get you on plane without the current of a river. ultimately wind still remains the ideal source of power.

I always thought the Berkeley aquatic Park would be the prime place for one. Its a long narrow strip of water next to 580/Eastshore Freeway. They have ski jumps and other features set up there that never get used, or at least I've never seen or heard of anything. Wouldn't a cable park bring in decent revenues?

that would definately be the best place i could think of as well but it is berkeley the center of granola politics and hairy armpits. it better be powered from recycled something. It's mainly a liability issue. Jeff and Emily up at KWS looked into this years back.

They have now Wednesday water ski events it seems like.
Putting a motorized function there won't work as it's a protected sanctuary.

A cable park in Bel Marin Keys would be awesome.

I think that the ski resort should have a day where they lower cables from a few of the chairs so you can just get pulled up.
