Visit to SF Oct 22 to 26 - Fall KB Recomendations

Post by Diggy » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:27 pm

I'll be in town on business and will be looking to get out on the water Monday and Friday, paying the bills the rest of the week. Safe first season rider and solid up wind. I'll be staying and working near the Airport.

Any friendly suggestions for where to ride this time of year for a visitor?

I'll be headed up to coast on Friday aiming to stay in Florence OR. Friday night. Suggestions?

Thanks

Prayer is good, if you do that kind of thing.

It's been a while since we had much good wind. You could bring some with you...

Yes, please do bring the wind with you! PLEASE! I'd like a nice strong clearing wind if you're taking orders.

Update: At this point they're actually calling for rain to end on Saturday and strong North winds on Sunday; clear most of next week.

I've already started my Wind Dance for SF, thats how I pray. I'll do my best to entice the gods to bring the wind.

Now where to ride as the forcast shapes up?

IF we get clearing winds, Third Ave. is pretty much your only option as a first season rider.

If we didn't already make it clear, the regular season is over here, so the wind is extremely hit or miss right now. You will be very lucky to get a session even if you didn't have other obligations to attend to.

Say Paul -

I would be a bit optimistic for some casual coastal riding this weekend...

bob

.SAT...NW WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 5 FT. NW SWELL 11 TO 15 FT. SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN.

Alameda looks doable right now.

Hmm. Kite the coast Saturday, party Sat. night. Sounds like a plan, Bob. You subtract the wind waves from the swell, right, so that's like... let me do the math... 6 ft. waves -- perfect!

Yuri, go out and test it for us. We'll watch on the cam. If it's good, we'll all meet you out there. It's probably warmer on the water than it is in my house right now.

Paul, there is one flaw in this sytem...

If i go out and its good I wont be coming home to post that it's kitable. Where if i do write something it will probably be to tell you its bad but then i might just assume that. So if you see my kite on the water that might mean it was marginal as well and i just decided to come home and not let anyone know about it. And as everyone knows, never trust a cicilian when death is on the line!
