Waist Harness vs. Seat Harness

Post by Fassn8 » Sat Dec 23, 2006 10:46 pm

I started kiting last season and love it!!!! I have a dakine seat harness that is almost brand new, but it seems like all the pros are using a waist harness. I'm no pro but I am jumping now and able to do 360s and back loops. Should I be looking to get a waist harness? Does it make that big a difference? Pros? Cons?

Thanks!

personally, I think a waist harness gives you a bit more freedom as you can move around it. It also feels more natural (to me) to have the power delivery from the waist instead of my pubic bone. On the other hand you are more likely to damage your ribs if the waist harness is worn or fits incorrectly.

My advice (since I cracked a rib wearing a waist harness) is to make sure you don't tighten it so hard as to allow it to dig under your rib cage.
