Where, where you for the Tsunami?

Post by moblvet » Thu Nov 16, 2006 8:57 pm

OK, no wind, no kiting, didn't feel like SUBBING, stand up paddle boarding, my 26' Osprey wanted to go out for a run. Heard about about the 8.1 earthquake in Japan, Tsunami warning only for NE Japan- 6'. OK in my mind goes, surfing Tsunami...on a boat...our coast.

Wondered about effect here, kept on channel 16, VHF Coast Guard, went outside potato patch and observed, deeper water, less cresting.

Lots of crabbers going out, fully laden, goin slow, then I heard ? to CG on radio channel 16, then channel 22, large wave does destruction at Crescent City Harbor, two piers and numerous boats lost, Tsunami effect?

Answer from CG, only rogue wave from storms, not from earthquake, now controversy over OES and NWS response to earthquake.

Ya, right our government is ready, had a good time long board surfing in my 26' boat, semi bottom turns and off the lip, true 60's long board surfing again.

When you're out there, you trust your impressions.
