THIS THURSDAYíS PODCAST:

Ten of the worldís best kitesurfing wave riders have converged on the island of Mauritius for a 15-day competition. Pro rider John Amundson joins us this week to fill us in on the competition happenings, the riding conditions in Mauritius, some style myths that have been dispelled during the event, the possibility of a North American Pro Waving Riding Tour next year and more.

Thereís a reason why North, RRD and F.One did their 2007 catolog shoots in Mauritius and why this island in Southern Africa, east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, is becoming so popular. Find out why this Thursday, October 5 and ask your questions live.

To participate and ask your questions REAL TIME to John, you will need a Lost Cherry account so you can log into the ASnews.net ìloungeî. There, you can type in your questions which will be fielded by ASnews.net staff.

Thanks, Chris

This should actually be pretty cool. There has been little to know info released since the start of this comp and it is definitely a great event with the top talent. I was emailing with JA the other day and he was pretty excited about what was going down out there.

We going to get to see some photos thursday as well?

Post by marina cc » Tue Oct 03, 2006 10:56 am

The competitors are:
1. Martin Vari Argentina
2. Jaime Herraiz Spanish
3. Sky Solbach American
4. Bertrand Fleury French
5. Grant Baker South African
6. John Amundson American
7. Peter Peterson South African
8. Felix Pivec Australian
9. Will James British
10. Jeff Tobias American
Along with some local Mauritius rippers!

The latest blog update from the Comp can be found at thekiteboarder.com. Below is an excerpt

The great waveriding competition that is being held in Mauritius, at the Morne is taking place under extreme conditions. As witnessed by the growing pile of shredded kites, snapped boards, and piles of spectra spaghetti gracing the lawn of the beautiful Indian Hotel and Resort at Le Morne, the conditions during the first week of the inaugural Mauritius Kitesurf competition/expression session could only be described as ìworld classî with competitors pushing their equipment and themselves to the maximum.Ö !
