So I've got a little question for ya!!!
What do you do when you've got a problem kiter that just wont listen and seems determined to screw it up for "everybody". (YES, this means YOU too)??
I just recieved an e-mail from a very concerned fellow kiter... JUST after this problem kiter caused a hang glider to crash do to his neglegance!
Hey Greg,
Maybe I should have posted his name: Mark Schneeberger, Best Rep.
We call him cheeseburger, from windsurfing days, where 4 days in a row he had to be rescued by Coast Guard from North Tower launch, when no one else went out because lack of wind. He only thinks of himself and has had numerous disasters at Stinson almost causing us to lose the site last year, after he knocked down an elderly woman SB homeowner, when he yelled from behind her to move, and she didn't hear him. He just walked over her with his kite up the launch steps. He always has a rationalization to make him blameless, as he did with the hangliders. I even approached him prior to his launch, reminding him of the hangliders coming down, he said he forgot. Peer pressure hasn't worked on him yet, if you have any ideas, I'd welcome them. Most SB kiters want him banned from the beach.
The question: when to say when, and when to say what!
Should we launch a program to rid our selfs of this kind of kiter. If we launch such a program, what should it be.
Should localism be used and to what extent. Is it possable to legally rid ourselfs of this kind of kiter???.... Or do kiters need to resort to old (PROVEN) methods to clear out the bad apples...
I say we start by naming the problem kiters, I'll start:
MARK "cheeseburger", KNOCK IT OFF you PISS FOR BRAINS!!!! YOU've used up your one and only get out of jail free card. THis hang-glider incident is your second strike!!! NOW, the kiters of STINSON want you OUT!
Mark,
I'm not interested in ANY EXCUSES, If you want to speak to me face to face, you've got my number and my address. My suggestion is you get with the program or you wont be WELCOME to kite anywhere in the bay area.

This comes as NO SURPRISE! His antics have become well known over time. He's pulled off a few wanker moves of similiar description at Marina Bay. You know, stuff like walking his kite up the path near the houses immediately next to it, yelling at innocent bystanders to get out of the way, slipping on a rock pulling his bar sweeping the kite over beach almost taking off Charlies head (yes, the lines hit his neck).
I normally wouldn't post in such a way, but all it takes is one to screw it up for everyone! Peer pressure will work wonders on many cases.

I think it would be worthwhile to contact best and anyone else he might try to rep for and tell them what's up. Even more effective it it's done as a group. Summarize all his moves over the years, no company should want this type of rider to be a face for them. Also, he loses his ride. First act of punishment, it hurts him without having to lay a hand on him.
I have no ideas on how to get this guy to reform. Can you get injunctions for this type of thing, saying that he's a danger to others? I don't know law, but I bet there's a kiter out there who does...
As for coming on strong, I don't that makes the kite community as a whole look very good, even though it may be tempting.

I say talk to the po po, usually I avoid the police, but in this case they will be involved anyway, so you might as well give them a heads up so if they dont do anything about him they will have been forewarned and it will be his head instead of the kiters of stinson beach. But hopefully you can get him banned so that no one will launch him maybe put up a sign that has pictures of banned kiters.
Or maybe we could have a wreckless kiter forum on this website and have all the people on it be posted at every beach in the bay area. That would send people like him a message.
And hopefully, if he ever comes to Alameda one will toss him.

If in doubt, do it.

Sending out mass mailings to sponcers etc... sounds VERY good! (AND legit!!) Eventually this kind of behavior will dampen everyones day.
If you know Marks number tell him about MY post, tell him to check it out himself. If he's pissed, GOOD! I for one will not be treating him kindly when I next see him. I say you speak your mind to him also should you cross paths.
Peer pressure only works if you work it. We can make Marks world very small if he keeps up his nonsence.
Information is key,
L.M.G.

thanks for pointing this out guys.
it's company policy that all reps not only abide by local rules and safety regulations but we expect them to exceed them in all cases and act as upstanding safety orientated members of the local community.
this will be looked into and brought to the guys attention.
i'd appreciate a few more details from you guys,to my mail.
