Hansen Designs and Windwing

Post by Hansen Designs » Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:25 am

Recent decisions by the current management effectively ended my 24 year association with the Windwing brand as of Dec 15th 2005. The deception of customers and supporters does not represent the business philosophy and tradition I strived to create over the 20 years in which I was the founder and principle owner. Therefore I am making this announcement to eliminate any confusion or misconception as to my relationship with the company or it's future products or services. This is a sad day for me and, from the comments here and in other forums, those who viewed the Bird logo and my associated design talents with respect. I deeply appreciate the many positive statements regarding my work and hope to continue in the wind sports business as a designer, R&D consultant or product manager. I sincerely hope Windwing will carry on the tradition of innovation and customer service I helped to establish.
Best regards to you all,
- Bill Hansen

Looking forward

Post by YAHF » Sun Feb 12, 2006 1:21 pm

As someone that's had the pleasure and honor of working with Bill, I can only say where Bill goes, so goes the heart and soul of Windwing. Bill's drive to innovate, and his ability to deliver the goods that Windwing's faithful have come to expect and enjoy over the years, will be sorely missed. While Windwing as a company may go on without him, they are an empty shell of a business for his loss. I, for one, look forward to the next Hansen enterprise.

What a mess! Too bad that things have come to this point. Bill, I certainly understand that it would be hard for you to see the brand that you built crumbling right in front of you. If there is an upside, it would be that you are free to put your talents to use when/where/how you see fit. You're a great designer and I'm right there with the others that look forward to seeing what you do next.

I just talked to Bill on the phone, and he said he feels better today than he has in a long time. All the support on this forum, kiteforum and other forums and personal emails he's recieved have been 100% positive and really great. I think he feels a great sense of relief in a way of finally getting it all out in the open. Just a guess, but it makes me feel good to see all of the support Bill is getting on this. Keep it up, friends.

By the way, John Chao just locked me out of the Windwing forum. So I cannot post or reply to posts. This is SO typical of the way he works -- silence the critic, dodge the blame. Y'all might want to let him know what you think of this kind of censorship on what was originally set up to be a public forum. Anybody wants to re-post this for me on the WW forum has my blessing. Killing the messenger doesn't solve the problem.
