Today is looking to be the first fall kite day at Folsom lake. For those who have had the privilege to kite at Folsom know how awesome the kiting can be there. The water is still currently warm @ 68 degrees. The north winds are to be peaking around 2ish today. Looking like 10-12m kites with be the right tool for today... maybe smaller if lucky. Here's the beach info for those interested in checking this place out... http://locations.splocs.com/kitesurf/lo ... Point.html

Re: Folsom Sessions - Fall 2011
So how was it? By the time I got out of work there was nothing left in Davis for a landboard session. Stupid work.
Windalert sensors in Folsom never show potential there but there must be wind. Today the sensors read not over 10mph.

Close, but no cigar. The wind didn't quite fill in @ Folsom, so I headed north to Thermalito. Caught an hour+ session on my 12m. The winds @ Thermalito were really steady, but you'd never know by looking at the meter. I only wish I had got there around 2 instead of 4... my session would have been longer.

Mark, glad you got a ride. Watched the trees from the house looked like it was going to start but never did. Thanks for the heads up. Jg

Re: Folsom Sessions - Fall 2011
So far this year has had less north wind in the valley than any year I can remember.
Supposed to be another blow on Tuesday but they say it will be a short one.

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Alright... tomorrow is definitely looking to be the "first" fall session a Folsom. N winds = Folsom Point. Winds look to be the best in the early afternoon and should last for a few hours. If not, then plan B may be Thermalito again.

Maybe the lack of valley winds have to do with all of the trees still being mostly green. Where the heck is Fall?Bulldog wrote:So far this year has had less north wind in the valley than any year I can remember.

Yes that's the word. Folsom Point is the spot I'm eyeing for tomorrow, but Thermalito could be a good alternative if the winds stay on the western side of the valley. Are you thinking of joining us?kitenaked wrote:North winds are supposed to be happening tomorrow....

Lake Berryessa could be blowing tomorrow as well.
