Strapless Kiters rule KSP World Tour

If you haven't seen any of the clips from the KSP One Eye wave kiting contest in Mauritius, you need to check out the amazing riding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30W8ShYMdaQ

The contest finished yesterday, and everyone in the semi-finals and finals was riding strapless.

Strapped-in wave kiting is done. =D> This contest has clearly established the demise of the idea that kitesurfers need to be attached to their boards to shred. It's hard to imagine that in a year or two, anyone using footbelts will be participating in contests like these

This opens up a big horizon for kiting. Watch a pro surf contest and you will see surfers getting more air on their own power than most kiters riding waves strapless are currently capable of. The progression has just gotten a lot longer, but the best kiters are going to get there in a few years. It's exciting.

Okay, done with my rant. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Oh, my. Silly me. I thought it was only Windsurfing which had been cancelled. Now strapped-in wave riding too? Dang, I'm just SO behind the curve!

I guess I'll sell all my gear and let you have all my waves!

Amazing stuff. Will this be a regular event on the tour? I don't follow pro surfing closely but yeah it's crazy how airborne it is now. Gotta only be a matter of time before kiting catches up. The ASP World Tour is coming to SF in November, maybe the bay area could see a KSP event in the future?

while impressive, I really think the future is strapless/boardless wave kiting. body surfing the wave is really the purest form of surfing.

I want to see those pro's body drag out and then get tubed without bothering with straps or boards...

Mitu is insane as usual. He's got Buttons' fluid surfing style and free-thinking approach to waves. Inspiring!

+1 strapless. Straps are for the brassiers.
