Today at Sherman the Slingshot Professional Kite Crew was there and terrorizing the beach, and worse jumping over the heads of the windsurfers at Tassie's beach(adjacent beach), Jumped over 80 year old Carl in the water with his windsurfer rig. Two Photographer enterage were filming from shore on either side of the beach(can't slinshot afford a boat). So the windsurfers are pissed and yelling and the Sling Shot kid self lands his kite on the kite beach, its high tide(no beach) lets go of the bar and runs over to apologise, mean while the wind grabs his kite and takes over the Berry Bushes with line and bar following.
Mean while Marian is getting into it with the Photographers, who accuse her of trying to throw there expensive video gear in the water .
Also the Sling Shot kid has been seen the last two days jumping with his kite onto the blue metal awning over the picknick table in the back.

Hey guest (aka don't kite here)
if what windsurfer-resurrection says is true than i think you need to redirect your hate. SI is Pablito's local beach which i think he truely cares about. If you want to call something bullshit why don't you call out that slingshot group and not Pablito.
btw, I am a firm believer of posting WITHOUT a mask on. Make yourself known if not i think you are just being a punk stiring shit for no reason.

I spoke to a few people who were there all day and I got quite the different story...as a matter of fact, it seems as though the camermen could have had quite a beef with Marian. Ruben was riding upwind and the videographers were down wind shooting from the windsurfing beach. Cameras have just as much a right to be there as the windsurfers. As to the "over the berry bushes", that is reported to be completely false.
Ruben I am sure was doing a bit of showboating but he is European (it's in their nature) and he has also left California as of last night. These are not the typical problems that most are addressing. This is something that happens a couple times a year when a top pro shows up.
I wasn't there, so I can't pass judgement but there are always two sides and the truth most times lands right in the middle.

I was standing on the ramp over the log. I directly saw him self land the Kite, and I saw it go over the bushes, the bar stayed on the beach side. I called out loose kite. There kiting was vey close in to shore, It was flooding hard and he was barley off the beach. and hard to get around the tules outcrop, at extreme hight tide, no beach. They most definatly were crowding the windsurfer beach and disregarding posted guidlines.
I saw him lose control earlier and almost end up on the beach, so much so that people cleared the beach and moved behind the bushes.
Yes I am shure everybody sees things different. Marian probally over reacted.

I was out later in the afternoon in the big flood. At first I was a little upset with the cameras in the middle of the launch and Rubin throwing down right next to the beach, but I launched like I always do and it was no problem. The guys with the cameras knew where I was and Rubin let me out no problem. I would have liked to see him boost on the awning. What do you expect from a "kid" that good. The only way to reach that level is to be stupid enough to try things nobody else would do. If people did it on a regular basis then somthing would have to be done.

Just for the record: I was there yesterday, riding early in the morning, when the SS rider you are talking about was doing his thing. Kite loops and other powered tricks about 20 feet upwind of the launch and the windsurf crowd. Now, I'm the first one to admit that no one is perfect in terms of observing the local rules (clearly posted at the launch, by the way.) I, too, am guilty of the occassional huck for the crowd. However, his display was over the top.
Blatant disregard. No respect. Youthful exuberance with no concern for other users. Total showboat. Not a good ambassodor for the sport like a team rider should be. Talented? Yes. Intelligent? No. Welcome? No more.
If I was his father I'd paddle his bottom blistered (that's what my Mom use to threaten me with!)
If I was his boss at SS, he'd be benched in a heartbeat. Back to High School for you! Thanks for jeopardizing my local access you RETARD.

Jeffrey,
I spoke with a couple locals that were there. They basically said - a whole lot of over-reacting. I don't know the camera crew that was there...not mine...we head upwind and out of the way.
Let's face it...this happens no matter what pros are in town. I didn't hear anyone complainign a couple weeks ago when the Jaime and Sky were hucking themselves right infront of the beach and that was a very crowded weekend...this was a Wednesday and just one rider.
Ruben losing control of his kite is inexusable. While I believe that a lot of what goes on on the water can be overlooked when you have a true pro who knows how to interact off the beach, Ruben is 17 and not a whole lot off the water professionalism can be expected from someone that age. Not an excuse...maybe the youngsters should be traveling with a shaparone/gaurdian.
Anyway, Ruben has left California. Mark Doyle is going to be at the Delta for a month or so. He has been doing this a long time and is a professional. I would say you can expect a bit more professionalism from him. Ruben rips and he's 17 Hello and he is outside his country. I was blown away by his riding and it is hard to look much past that. What he did out there is certainly reprimandable but don't bunch the whole slingshot crew in with that behavior.
Try sending an email to Slingshot if you want to tell them what you thought of Ruben.
