Thanks Steve. I work for Alameda County Fire and I work at a rescue boat station. We were on the windsurfer rescue a few weeks ago. I was a little dissapointed with our assignment that night. We searched from Coyote Point to just beyond Candlestick. I felt like we were looking for a cat in a dog park! I read this forum everyday and I know where to look for a missing windsurfer/kiteboarder, Coyote Point and south. I am sure they were looking in the right place, it just would have been nice to have a chance to find her. We were out on the water for about 6 hours.
We have a Protector rescue boat, an older coast guard 23' foot Hurricane and a 14' Zodiac IRB. We have about a 20 min. response to Coyote Point from the San Leandro Marina. If you or any other kiter has emergency needs PLEASE ask for us on cell phone along with Coast Guard and all others. We don't get called right away for many of the calls on the bay. Remember Alameda COUNTY Fire, not the city.
I have taken lessons and starting to buy my own gear, hope to see you out on the water with a Kite!
Thanks, Lary
