I don't know what it is that causes this but my leash has released on the water more than once (rrd).

First time it happened I came straight in. Next time i just parked the kite and reconnected it.

Now I just keep an eye on it and occasionally pull the sleeve down if I see it sneaking up.

Hello tgautier,

If it is the quick-release you need to call "live 2 kite" they sell (rrd) gear and can address the issue with your leash. If you do not get a "ANSWER" I have a lot of leashes so don't play with that one. (510)814-1074 or Cell..(831)247-3032. The cell is a Santa Cruz number so use the other first. Max or Pamela

Max I wouldn't mind picking up a few (3?) used spare leashes - i'll give you a call next time i'm in your neck of the woods.

After reading over a few posts, I bought a $30 Cabrinha kite leash (pictured) that can attach to the spreader bar. This leash seems much less likely to creep up than my original one. I'm not doing unhooked wake-style tricks so I don't really need a handle-pass leash. I also prefer the front attachment point, as I've read that some have had problems in the surf being pulled backwards underwater when the kite is down and gets hit by a good-sized wave. Finally, I have had one or more of my lines inadvertently clip into the leash carabiner which was discussed in one of the links on this thread. To attempt to avoid this, I've added a piece of clear plastic 5/16" tubing that I can slide over the gate of the carabiner (similar to: http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php? ... 4&p=606569). Best-case, it keeps the lines from getting clipped into the leash carabiner, worst-case, the tubing slides off and I'm back to the stock setup. Hopefully, I won't be inadvertently losing my kite again anytime soon. Thanks for everybody's comments on this.

Dave
