I would definitely be in too. Considering the increasing population of female riders in the Bay Area, I think it would be beneficial to all of us, regardless of skill level. I have attended a girls kite clinic over in Japan two years ago, which was an inspirational experience. I've also received an email about events happening at SPI and the Gorge, but it's a bit far and cost much. It doesn't have to be a formal clinic, but to have a somewhat organized get-together would be fun.

Hi Jessie, Hana et. al!

I'm stoked to hear that the Bay area has lots of interest in women's clinics! On behalf of the Women's Kiteboarding Association, I am trying to schedule women's events wherever there is interest and support. We tried to organize a weekend clinic last summer in the Bay area, but didn't get follow-up or support from the dealers we contacted.

If there is interest, and if someone can direct me to a good point person to talk about doing an event there, the Women's Kiteboarding Association will shoot to plan a weekend event of clinics in the Bay area this summer. After being immersed in multiple King of the Bays, I always felt the Bay area has one of the most pro-active and enthusiastic kiteboarding communities in the country, so I'd be stoked to get a group of gals and do an all-womens event there!

In the meantime, yes, there is a series of women's events going on in South Padre Island, Texas in a couple of weeks. The trainer kite clinic and the intermediate/advanced clinics do cost money, however if anyone is going down to the S. Padre Island area and just wants to ride with the gals, we are having a gals riding SESSION and more if the interest is there. PM me if you're interested. Otherwise, here's the links to the Women's camp: http://southpadreislandkiteboarding.com ... inics.html and the www.womenskiteboarding.com/events.html

See you on the water!

Hey Tonia,

What do you mean a good point person to talk to? What exactly would you need? Ollie, what do you think...?

We will definitely work on planning an women's event in the Bay area. What are women looking for -- beginner, intermediate (transitions, ollies, jumps) or more advanced maneuvers (adv. jumps, rolls, unhooked, grabs, wave riding)?
