Oops I forgot don't go to Hood River, go to White Salmon, WA and be careful not to cross the state line or your kite will fall out of the sky.

Consider Dahkla in the Western Sahara for pure kiting. Essaouria morocco has a cool city to explore in addition to beach if you want more civilization. Can't go wrong with the Mediterranean islands (Greece etc).

Mauritius in early August, I'll be there with a couple of friends. Went there last year at the end of August and it was awesome

Thanks guys! My ideal spot would have *something* in terms of adventure and nightlife

- but I am mainly looking for a place to progress my freestyle/flat-water kiting for a solid month. (e.g. Cumbuco!) I will be moving back to the Bay Area (from the midwest) soon enough - so am pushing for international excitement this time around!

I wanted to go to this place a month or so ago but had to settle for Dubai, which actually worked out pretty well. But this place looks cool and it is all about July. Email the guys at kiteborading-oman, they will come back to you and help. Not much night life may be a problem but you can get that in Muscat or Dubai. Maybe even hop over to Goa and Sri Lanka from there.

Never leave wind to find wind......sage advice. I second the Gorge...I'll be there and be happy to coach you on staying upwind and proper use of GoJo;) Truck Norris has some square footage with your name written all over it.
