Waddell Creek- WindGuru?

Post by Eoghanturley » Sat Jun 07, 2014 7:30 pm

Hey guys,

I'm a kiter from Ireland over working in San Francisco for the summer and I'm just wondering if Windguru is accurate for Waddell or if it is normally a few knots stronger than forecasted?

For instance, I want to travel down from Foster City to go kiting tomorrow at Waddell so if anyone could tell me if it will be windy that would be great? Windguru is showing 11-13 knts in the afternoon which wouldnt really be worth the trip.

Thanks in advance for any help, if anyone wants a lift down to Waddell etc let me know. I'd love to get to know some Bay Area Kiters.

Cheers!

Crapshoot tomorrow, spare the air day, so may get skunked. looks like wind will be back mid week.

Waddell season is kind of ending right now. There will be some days here and there but you will have better luck at Sherman Island or 3rd ave. now. A good sign that Waddell will be good is 17 mph or more by noon. Otherwise don't bother. Also mid week is your best time to avoid the crowds.

No, summer is just mellower winds and 1 to 3 foot surf, so not really over. When I lived there, I enjoyed a lot of 9 meter and 8 foot surfboard sessions during the summer and being able to kite 3 times a week instead of almost everyday. Winter and spring is typically 5 and 7 meter kites. Summer is 9 and 11 meter kites.

Rey don't try to make Waddell happen SS$$

For kiting I love when the swell is small - it let's you get saucy and the summer feels way warmer

Good luck and see ya out there
