Hey All!

I've not been kiting in a LONG time and am wondering if it is still necessary to get a IKitesurf membership...I need to know the wind at Sherman, Berkeley and the Toll Plaza. Is there a new way to get that info?...or is it best to get the Ikitesurf? Thanks for your help and I hope to see you out there soon!....

Best,

John

the value of the human forecast, on top of the sensor data, far outweigh the cost of membership. you can even save $20 using the link on this forum. that's an honest opinion based on experience before involvement with BAK.

if you do any travelling an ikitesurf membership also gets you windalert which has wind and weather data for pretty much the entire globe and certainly the popular kite destinations.

You should see it above the footer on this page, but I will make it more visible for everyone as you're right it's a bit tough to find! Here's the link just in case:

Does anyone know what process needs to be taken to petition iKitesurf to put in a new sensor? We have a spot nearby that gets heavy use from Kiters, Windsurfers, Scuba Divers, Boaters (sail & motor), and Fisherman. There's also a yacht club that puts on sailing events frequently. Sadly we no longer have any good wind or weather sensors around this spot. The one wind meter that's still there is at the local marina and only works on the SW direction. The other sensor (NOAA owned) was removed due to construction. All the users listed above are now subject to "winging it" when it comes to playing here. In contrast we have another spot that does have an iKitesurf sensor, but that spot has only a tiny fraction of users compared to the other spot. It makes NO sense!!!

From the Toll Plaza sensor discussion:

They say at least 10 people need to want it. Try mike@iwindsurf.com and see what he says.

Thanks. I knew I'd seen that somewhere, but forgot where.
