Hitting Up The Bay Area Kite Scene This Weekend

Post by turbinedude » Fri Jan 25, 2013 4:35 pm

There seems to be some wind blowing in this weekend in the Bay.
I'm going to don on the wetsuit and hit up Ocean Beach tomorrow - looks like a good 4 to make Beaufort happy.
I'll probably hit up somewhere directly inside the bay if the wind tops 20 mph on the coast on Monday.
I by no means pro, but I should be able to stay up wind if the waves aren't too heavy.
Email me ptbernar@gmail.com if anyone wants to coordinate. Otherwise I hope to see you out there.
^^

I new to the scene up here btw, so I hope this post is in the right spot.

Hey there. Welcome to the forum and the area.

Ocean Beach isn't a beginner spot by any means. If you're really challenged to stay upwind (as you note in your post) I'd recommend somewhere less potentially dangerous.

Have fun and be careful!

Seriously, don't mean to be an douche but I agree with Kirk, no OB for you if you have trouble staying upwind. Third ave and alameda have a good forecast for tomorrow too. You'll be safe on those spots. :)

3rd ave without good knowledge of the spot might be a tricky place for a person with so so upwind skills. Alameda would be the safest place to go.

I sure do hope that the forecast pans out...

Welcome :]

Where are you coming from, how long have you been kiting and what spots are you used to riding?

If you have trouble staying upwind when the waves get too big the best time to hit OB will be early before it gets too blown out or if you go later mid-tide around 2p - but heed the warning of others the only thing OB has in common with Belmont is a long sandy beach

So when are you saying conditions will be best for experienced riders at OB today? Need my fix....

These two places OB and Crissy are not for beginners. Allot of experience required. _>:<

Oh man 22 knots currently, and I've got a wine tasting trip scheduled ](*,)

Hopefully it's still good tomorrow...

Alameda looks good today. But going late will mean a bit of a walk across the mud. Ready for a fix!
