lit 12 wind sounds sick! Big surf and sick sounds INSAIN!
I plowed water with surf board and a 15.., way to much fun
Oh-well it could be worse, I learned about lost wax sculpture while eating a very nice grouper burger at Pete's Pub.
To windy to bone fish, to light to kite.. Could drive a man to drink!

Yes, it was good to see everyone at the beach today, they came out of the woodwork to get some. There was enough wind on and off for everyone to have some fun and play with different kites. Most excellent!

Yeah it was nice seeing the familiars again. Although i have to say I got used to having the beach to myself most of the winter and forgot how to deal with 4 kiters heading at me all at once. What the hell do you do when 2 kiters are coming at you one way and one the other? I have a mental goal to getout of EVERYONE's way this year as I seem to be a magnet for problems. But damn its hard in certain situations, especially when you have a lull asmaller kite and no board speed to get through the lull. I was realizing why I dont encounter this clostrophobic feeling I get at Alameda, its the shack. Lets face it, kiteboarding is a sport meant for showing off. Cause who wants to hurt themself with that new move if noone saw it? That damn area in front of the shack is gonna be so turbulent with kites this season. Perhaps I will make my peace down in front of my place where the wind is a bit smoother because of shorter buildings and a cleaner wind line for west winds. But I see all you up there having fun and i wanna come play too. I guess I will be happy if no signs go up this year that keep me from launching down there in front of my place. I know this has been a topic for years now and is inevitable at some point. Am I complaining already? Sorry.

You said it, playing with your homies is more fun then playing alone. Frankly I feel good conditions still suck if you've got no stoking you (pushing you), but problems always seem to start when we get into a good cluster f#$% situation (I like riding fast with tons of people around but I know it freaks some people out). The best situation it seems is when you've got 3 or 4 friends around..
Alameda is going to always have more trouble becouse we've got more then our fair share of newbies AND old guys wanting to show off along with the beach strollers... But hay we've also got the ONLY long sandy beach in the rock incrusted world of Bay Area kiting. The newbies and emerging nephs alike, like the mellow conditions for learning there stuff (or new stuff) without fear of getting stuck miles out to sea... Whats a kiter to do??
My intention is to use my ski as much as possable to get to wind and provide support in problem prone areas. This year I'm going to concentrate on racing (long distance grinds), using ski's as a chase vehicle to mop up my friend (S) as we train. I'd also like to try some tranz-bay kiting, threading 3 or 4 bridges and going all the way into town (The City to Rio).
My basic goal is to stop acting like a LOOSER and put up a REAL FIGHT! This year I'm going to beat the pants off Antony, Jeff and Nils in at least one race each. Nils will have to claw the cup out of my cold dead hands if he wants the Bay Challange Cup again and Kafka will be my prime target in the Bridge to Bridge!! This will be no small feat since everyone saw these guys run circles around me in the last few years.
So I'm putting out a challange to EVERYONE who races, ANYONE who beats me this year has gotta earn it, NO MORE PLAYING GAMES. Nice guys finish LAST and I intend to inflict DAMAGE!!

Anyway, hopefully I wont be adding to the problems at Alameda to often.
Enjoy the fun ride, Greg Boyington

Wow, throwin' down. Rum is strong there?

I wanna' ride all over the Bay with sag support. Please, please? But I ain't racin' with those guys-- I hate to lose! (One of the racers told me yesterday that his new kites go to weather like nobody's business. Strategic tip for you G!) I love the pre-season stoke.

What makes a kiter go fast? Is it a balance of weight to kite? Quads and balls? A kite that flies right at the edge of the window? A little luck? I know my threshhold for speed is limited by my legs strength to hold the power. It helps to be on a very fogiving board as well. But the forgiving boards normally dont have as much flat rail. Hmmm. Maybe its all rigged like the Jerry Springer show.
