That was me. You guys were north of me, on a pink/black vegas and something else, right? Did you upgrade to the '06 Vegas or was that Brendan?

You must have been ahead of me in the loop if you got that much water time; I didn't roll into Stinson until 3:30.

I gotta try OB at least once this year. Waddell is a bit too advanced for me when that last wave is in my face. Plus there isnt much of a playground between waves like OB seems to have. Am I wrong about that? When I went there to watch last year I was surprised by the open area between waves and how you could get into trouble on the outside but inside seemed rather doable.

I think OB and waddell have their challenges. The wind at OB is not as good as waddell and the waves aren't really as clean (they sortof appear all over the place), but the nice long beach IS more appealing than the rocks just south of waddell.

Yesterday was definitely not the most fun I've had at Scott's, I was really scared to send it as landing could put you under a braking double over header :). We stayed for about an hour and headed to thurd.

Bulldog, yeah that was me on the Black/Pink 06 Vegas. I love that kite! It looked like you were riding the waves a bunch. I was avoiding them; ha, ha. I'm trying to find the spot for today. Maybe Stinson. I was hoping for 3rd but as of 11:20 it doesn't look good at 3rd and there's a bike race along hwy 1 today so it's supposed to be a nut to get to Bodega. Beware!

Oh, who was it that came up after our session and said "hey" for two seconds? Was that whitecap? Sorry if I was out of it, I was on a high from kiting after such a long while.

I was wondering why you were kiting so far out. The waves are the fun part!

Yuri: Dillon and Stinson are also less threatening than Waddell. At Dillon there's usually alot of flat water on the inside, like OB, but there are still some nice sized waves further out that you can ride when you get up the guts. Stinson is the opposite -- It's a single, clean break so not so much room on the inside, but on the outside it's usually pretty rideable; about like Sherman on a 10M day in terms of chop. Both places have nice big wide beaches to launch/land on. And the drive from the EB isn't really that far, probably an hour or so.

BB -- I think Stinson's gonna be the right place to kite today but the wrong place to drive to; Hwy. 1 is closed there, too.

There's a webcam at Stinson that you can use to check out the scene before you make the drive, Google "Webresults Sharkcam". If there's no whitecaps, head to Dillon instead.

Waddell totally sucked yesterday, with very gusty winds coming too far out of the north. How gusty? Just after launching my kite, I was gusted 6 feet in the air, and landed awkwardly on my side on the beach. Once I made it to the water, it didn't go much better. Lot's of pumping on my 10m, followed immediately with "oh shit.. I hope I can hold my edge". I only made it out past the 10 foot waves once, which was really about all I was trying to do since playing around inside of them with no confidence in the wind's ability to get me over them or allow me to outrun them is not my idea of fun. I lasted mayby a half hour before limping in with my tail between my legs.

My second session an hour later was better. The wind had steadied out (just a bit). I was even able (i.e. confident enough) to do some bottom turns in front of the smaller ones. All was going well until I didn't have enough wind to outrun a monster. It swallowed me up just after it broke. When I finally popped back out, I saw my board 30 yards out and just downwind of me. A quick 15 second drag would have gotten me there. But another monster was bearing down on it so I dove the kite toward the beach for a 300 yard body drag / body surf session. I finally found my board a half hour later, about 300 yards down wind. The next time I try to go out at Waddell with that wind direction, can someone please remind me of my adventures yesterday?

Scott
