Summer 2006

Post by Bulldog » Sat Jul 15, 2006 8:10 pm

So I have a rep around here as a pessimist, at least with some. But I know that my schedule has not been in sync with the wind this year -- when it's windy, I'm busy and vice versa.

Still, it's seeming to me that this summer, at least at Sherman, is a bit weak compared to last year. Several SW days, a few crazy gusty days, but mostly checking Ikite and not bothering.

I know 4th of July rocked, but otherwise it seems like there hasn't been much wind lately. Any comments? (Bring it on, Z -- just remember, I was there and heard negative words emit from your mouth last week)

Best spring coastal kiting I've had in along time, has been this July, and hardly any June gloom.
Perhaps global warming has some benefit for awhile for the coast and Crissy.

There's no wind at Sherman. Everyone just stay home.

Sorry Paul,

It's you. Been riding my 10 all month. Not been skunked all year. (knock on wood)

We definitely are going different days because I've only seen you once, when I was leaving after a great sesh. (Hopefully the wind didn't die on you that day!)

I see Fearlu a lot. Must be blowing too, since he's been riding his 13 lately.

ET

Hint...Sherman blows in cycles. Be there when that high pressure breaks down after a heat wave and it's almost guaranteed 15-25.

Tommorrow looks promising - check the windliar early in the morning and if it's 10-20ish, Dawn patrol dude. Or how about tuesday -Wednesday?

Yeah, I'm off-cycle for sure.

I know from looking at my blog from last year that there wasn't much of a cycle last year -- I kited 3x a week or more for most of June and July. August started getting cyclical. I didn't even have Ikite last year and I only got skunked once that I can remember.

One day last week I was driving in and fearlu was leaving. Noone was kiting and the wind sucked, but everyone told me how great it had been all day. I think Charlie was there that day too, before the wind shifted.

I know exactly how many times YOU'VE kited, Charlie.

Last year I think we were neck and neck, but you're kicking my butt this year.

I just got my Vegas 9, and it seems like I'm never gonna get to try it out!

Friday afternoon I was driving back from San Jo in the farmtruck and saw you guys out in the PT. Em whitecaps, but I didn't even bring my kite cuz no time.

Sat. morning I was driving over the river at Martinez and the wind was wanting to blow the truck off the bridge. Good dawn patrol session that day, I'm sure.

Now it's Sunday and I can kite, but there's no wind.

"Welcome to the Bay Area 511. Travel time from Fairfield to Emeryville is currently: 68 minutes. There are five known incidents..."

The entire population of the Central Valley is currently fleeing to the coast.
