I like the sound of this. I'd rather go really fast upwind than downwind anyway.
It was the same wind at Sherman, really. I got in the water late, but I was lit on my 12 and it was all I could do to NOT do an upwinder. I hit the second island on my third tack (it was whitecapping in the lake!), but everyone else still out was playing around right in front of the beach. I got spooked about going too far out by myself in that melted ice, but by then it was blowing so hard that the two options were going almost straight upwind or straight downwind, so I hit the beach. I sure don't like boosting big in gusts anywhere near that shoreline.
Who's gonna sign up for the Upwinders Club at Sherman?
