Post by robertovillate » Thu Apr 27, 2006 5:29 pm

I'll be in town fror a few days, wondering if I should bring my gear. Have time to ride late Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.

I am proficient...waves, any wind, experienced

Please let me know if I should bring my gear.

Hate to leave home without it!!!

Thanks

PS anyone want to hook up and ride?

Based on NWS I'm definitely bringing my gear (10m, 12m, 16m) and will want to ride, possibly Friday upon arriving ETA 2:35 PM SFO

any suggestions on the best place to go to catch a late afternoon ride on Friday??. Would love some waves!!

Saturday I'm wide open...Wadell to Bodega Bay to Delta. What's recommended. I need to be back in the city by dinner time.

I used to live in SF '89-'92 and windsurfed (anyone remember what that is) at Chrissy Field, the Delta, Bolinas/Stinson, a few other spots...but the kite friendly spots are not familiar to me , so any advice is appreciated.

Last chance to check email before my flighr will be around 8 AM Friday EST

THANKS and hope to ride with the N. CA/SF crew!

Roberto

PS I'm coming over from St. Pete FL for a few days, but have been travelling and teaching all over the planet...Costa Rica, Viet NAm, Thailand, all over the US (MI, TX, Cape Cod, Hatteras, FL, Keys), the Bahamas...so if anyone needs information give me a shout. I'll be in SPI TX for May and June if anyone is headed that way...feel free to contact me.

SFO 2:35 is a clear call for 3rd avenue. This is a 15 minute drive on 101 from SFO. If there is decent wind at SFO on your arrival take a car on 101 south to 3rd avenue, take 3rd east ( direction towards the bay), take the first left AFTER the golf course - there you are. You should even see them when you are landing. If there is no wind at SFO you can still try Chrissy field or the Delta. You need a long wetsuit ...

when you arrive.

But PLEASE also tell me about the wind this weekend in Florida! I will leave to FT Lauderedale for a week and want to have fun ... Which are the windreader links?

Enjoy your time here in SF. I am sure it will be a good weekend. Georg

Thanks Georg,

Yep, 3rd St would be nice if the wind direction is correct??? But how about the coast? Pacifica to Ocean Beach?? I kited there last year a few days in March.

I'm bringing my 4/3 so I should be OK.

Florida: There is usually wind somewhere in FL. It could be nukin in St Augustine, dead in the Keys and marginal in St. Pete...you never know. This time of the year the winds are less predictable, often needing to be there at the right time to hit the sea breeze.

Looks like I'll be missing some good wind here in FL this weekend  but hoping to make up for it in SF. By the way the water and air is pretty warm these days...no wetsuit recently...nice!
