New to the Forum/Group?

It'll be hard to follow LMG (btw, didja hear he's self-taught?), but here:

Just started this spring, got a valuable set of lessons from KWS guys, and have been out myself half a dozen times. Getting on the board now, when the wind's right I can keep going in one direction until I have to stop and dunk because I'm either getting too close to the shore, or getting too far from it. :). BTW, whoever said the water by 3rd is jet fuel was right!

It sparked last year when I was driving South on Hwy 1 on a windy day and saw what people were doing to Waddel with these crazy things in the sky (are those parachutes? wtf). Before I even finished pulling over to watch, I had that pit-of-the-stomach feeling that meant I was going to try this. :D

hey, im very new. I took a land lesson with Don above in Late June, and the wind died. I took the water with Doug. Good wind. I have had 2 more days on the water and am getting up on the board now. Im addicted. 2 guys at work and I are driving everybody nuts. I think we talk more than we have actually gotten to kite.

One thing that worries us newbies, and is hot on our discussions is all of the new regulations. We dont mind following them, but it sure is difficult to wrap up your lines in the water. I am getting good at untangling.... I guess i will not be able to challenge lmg on his time running up the beach. I have one lap in, and was told not to do it again!

anyway, one thing Don didnt mention in the class is, why in the world do you pay for ikitesurf, when its wrong every day?

Hello....this is Katrina, took lessons from KWS last Spring & spent time in Alameda body-dragging or waiting for wind. I left last June to NY (Long Island) and spent the entire summer trying to get on the board in the ocean.
It kicked my ass! It made me really appreciate how nice Alameda is for beginners (& me).

I am returning to SF :) in a few weeks
...oh, and will be looking to buy a used board, because mine was stolen in Baja.
I will be in Alameda this season still trying to get up & stay up on the board.

Hi, This is Evan,
I've posted quite a bit on this forum because everyone is really nice unlike kiteforum. I got a lesson from KWS last summer, in July.
After that I couldn't stop thinking about it, I had no money and my parents for sure weren't going to pay the bill. So I decided, I was going for it. I worked for the month I was free during the summer. I worked 6 days a week often for more than 10 hours a day framing houses and gardening. Finally 2 weeks before school started I walked back into KWS and bought a crossbow, with my own money. I worked the hardest I have in my life to learn and continiue to kite, and I intend to make the best of it with Alameda as my prime rideing spot.
I'm 16 and theres nothing I love to do more,

Evan though Alameda is a cool beach once you progress you'll want a spot with a bit more wind come late summer. There are many choices around the bay. When I first started I though I'd never leave Alameda. Now I only go in the spring. It is a fun place to kite and hang out, but with my drive I got skunked to many times.

Thats true, but the nice thing about Alameda is there is other stuff to do if you get skunked. But you're right I do plan on going to Rio Vista quite a few times in the summer when there isn't as much wind at Alameda.
