It will be windy and crowded. Take a small kite and be careful. Ask others around you the local rules. Beginners get airlifted out of there every summer.

Consider an assisted downwinder from Nat. (edge kiteboarding) Not expensive. Far safer and way more fun for a beginner especially on a crowded windy weekend!

+1 for downwinder with Nat but you still have to be comfortable kiting in a heavy crowd when you are coming back to the launch. If you are unsure, wait for a less busy weekend or better yet go midweek.
