Hey,

Friend of mine and I are going tomorrow to Sherman and we have at least 1 (maybe 2) more seat available in the car.
If someone wants to join - let me know, leaving around 11:30am.

Hi Inez,

I'm a beginner(can ride upwind some days) interesting in joining up with you on Sunday. I live in SF (Nob Hill) - where are you located?

I'm in South Beach, very close to Bay Bridge entrance. Do you have a car?

I think you missed the boat. The posting was for going to SI on the 20th but you responded on the 23rd.

Not to be a party pooper, but for future reference: you need to make sure that you can ride upwind 100% of the time to be able to ride at Sherman.
The "little Baja" landing area downwind of the main beach is used only in case of a problem: it's not a place to land after doing a downwinder from the main beach to there.
If something goes wrong and for some reason you can't make it back to the main beach PLEASE REFRAIN FROM LANDING AT THE WINDSURFER BEACH! In that case, it is better to go all the way to little Baja.
Sundays are usually crowded and you'll have to deal with swimmers in the cove where you water start from so it's sometimes better to body drag your way out on your port tack and then water start when you're clear of any person or obstacle.
It also gets quite crowded in the water, so make sure that you know your ROW (I'll help you here: starboard has right of way).

But again, I repeat, if you're not efficient to ride upwind 100% off the time, don't bother going to Sherman unless you're planning in doing an assisted downwindwer with kiteopia.

Cheers.

Hey,

Thanks for your post - good to know those things. And yeah, downwinder with kiteopia is exactly what I'm planning to do.

If you're doing a down winder with kiteopia, I recommend that you scoop out Sherman island first (right before your downwinder) and ask for the way things work there. I see many people doing a down winder and then arrive at the beach and have nooooo idea where to land etc...
Just my 2 cents.
Glad you're planning a down winder with them. Best way to progress fast. SS$$

Thanks for the heads up le noun I'll reach out to kiteopia. Also researched some of kitecrazy's suggestions on sherman island guidelines.

My guidelines are not all inclusive. Le Noun is right. Get there early, scope out the way things work. Watch the flow of traffic and where people launch and land.
Remember: What you see while you are watching and scoping is not what you'll see when you get back. Over the course of a couple hours the water level will be different due to tides. It may be higher or lower and the amount of beach space will change accordingly. Also...the crowd may grow SIGNIFICANTLY!!!! (beach goers and kiters)

Thanks for keeping an open mind and being willing to approach Sherman the right way. MJ0_ MJ0_ MJ0_ II&&
