Adam Koch to ASV Kites

Post by ozchrisb » Thu Feb 21, 2013 4:34 pm

So I've been watching the St Francis cam to check on the AC 72's while working hard form my desk and noticed someone on an ASV kite the last few days. Went to the webiste today and what do you know:

It'll be fun to see a new brand mixed in with all those Ozones :P

are there really enough people paying full retail for race gear that an entire company can be profitable designing and selling only that?

Seems unlikely doesn't it. Robbie Whittall was saying a few years ago that there wasn't enough of a market to make the Edge race only and that they make it a good free ride kite too. Although I'm not sure what they would change if it was just for racing. Without the Olympics thing you've got to think that racing will slow down a little again, in terms of participation. Hopefully it will free up development a bit too though, people care less about formula rules when their regattas don't actually use them (e.g. StFYC I think?).
