Was given a board? Is it too big?
Post

Hey everyone,
I am new to these forums. I am a beginner and have started my lessons and work right across the street from 3rd ave. My brother gave me a board for my birthday, but I am not sure if it is too big. I am a big guy. I am 6'3" 255lb. The board he gave me was the Best Breeze 158 X 46.
http://www.bestkiteboarding.com/en-us/breeze Is that to big or would it be fine to learn on? Any suggestions for kites for 3rd?
Thanks for any advice!

Perfect for learning and light wind days. You'll want a smaller board after you become proficient at staying upwind and want to progress to jumps and tricks.

You'll want a 12m to start with. Then something smaller. 10m or 9m depending upon your preference and kite brand. Please though if you only have a 12m and your big board and it's nuking out do not rig. Consider it time to buy your next smaller kite. "It's the only size kite I had" is not a valid excuse to put yourself and others in harms way by rigging too big.

If it's "nuking", then there's no reason not to kamikaze

Thanks for all the advice. I wouldn't be out there on days like that yet. I am going to take my time and not try to kill myself or others. I doubt I would be out there without a trainer until I am completely comfortable. I would rather spend the money and get guidance instead of going out there and making a scene.
