Hi All,

An experienced kiter friend is looking to take a beginner friend to Hatteras for a week and has the following questions:

Which airport do you fly into?
Suggestions for a house or other accommodation for a week for 2 people
Suggestions for site for beginners
Suggestions for good Instructors
Any other recommendation or local knowledge much appreciated!

Thanks,

Kirk out

Fly into ORF
rent a car
stay at Kitty hawk kites
great launch
shallow water for miles
good winds
fun people

I learned in Hatteras, and I think Kirk pretty much covered it.

Other Tips:
->Budget Option across from KHK: KOA Camps
->REAL is another option for lessons, and/or entertainment
->Don't forget to stop in town of Kitty Hawk for provisions as Rodanthe is remote
->Bring some thin booties as the 'razor clams' can cut up beginner's feet

Just want to jump in on this here... as Erin mentioned, our annual trip to the OBX is coming up in a few weeks (mid April) and there are still spots left.

You do not need to be an Ocean Rodeo customer, bring your gear and join us for some fun. There will be plenty of our gear to demo while you're there but we are happy to see customers of all brands attend.

The week is a great time in general. It is a nice, cost effective way to visit the OBX and to meet some new people from across the US, Canada and Europe. I've met some incredible people on this trip!

If you want more info, email us at sales@oceanrodeo.com or check out this link:

REAL kiteboarding has the best instructors. I spent a lot of last fall in the obx. I suggest you stay further south, more like Avon or buxton. The best beginner spot is kite point, just south of canadian hole. Which is 40 minutes south of kity hawk kites - so save some time driving everyday.

Make sure you stop at real kiteboarding.... if youre in need of some gear just leave your old crap at home to save you the trouble and buy new stuff there.
