Bumping this post back up. I am heading to Chile to spend time with my GF's family this x-mas. We have time from Jan 1-12 to go to Ecuador or Peru(leaning) for surfing. Originally we were just looking at surfing but I have heard that kiting is still good this time of year.

Anyone have first hand experience with the winds in Lobitos in January? I know the waves should still be good and would hate to be stuck on the beach in the afternoon with amazing goofy foot friendly waves + wind and no kite!
