I thought they called it the playpen? i dont usually kite in there but there has been a few light wind uncrowded weekdays i have ended up in there, and ran up the road with my kite,they windsurf there, and i saw a few windsurfers up around kite beach today and it dont bug me, i like windsurfers :)

Yeah, a few windsurfers often cruise upwind and do tacks and jibes upwind of the playpen in the 'kite area', I don't mind them a bit. I even find it easier and more relaxing to let them pinch me off if they want and I'll veer downwind a bit. Why not?

Some of the windsurfers even smile when you kite next to them......they must be kiters too?
