Inner forearm/elbow pain?

After kiting several long days in a row last month, I developed a pretty sharp pain in my inner forearm near my elbow. The pain is worst when I'm pulling in on the kite bar (or doing a pull-up).
Being an extremely common motion for kiters, I'm guessing I'm not the only one that's experienced this. Does anyone have any advice before I head to a Dr. and tell him about my crazy hobbies and my latest injury?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
I'm curious as to what the diagnosis would be also as I was getting the exact same thing in my left inner forearm earlier this year. It was a weird sharp shooting pain that would come and go randomly. After a week of no wind, it went away, but recently it came back in my right arm and now my elbow pops for no reason too! Someone mentioned that they've heard of kiters getting something similar to tennis elbow? Kiter's elbow? :?:

I had the same pain several years ago and I couldn't even put my arm in the air any more. Resting and acupuncture treatments helped me a lot.
Good luck!

Had the same thing - called golfers elbow. I had luck using a neoprene elbow wrap - wore it 24/7 for a couple of days and the pain went away.

Sounds like regular tendinitis, used to get it in my forearms and elbows until I sold my 14. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tendinitis
Vitamin I is your friend. That and the usual RICE regimen.

People think its weird, but when i'm riding around i use a switch grip and I swear it helps for the tennis elbow problem. Oh and a banana every morning!

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Thanks everyone for the help and thoughts! Glad to hear that others have successfully conquered this.
After some more research and building on the info that people posted, it sounds like I have golfer's elbow. (Apparently, golfer's elbow is pain on the inside of the elbow, tennis elbow is pain on the outside of the elbow).
I'm going to try some stretches, ice, and strength exercises (and maybe the banana trick too :). I've had enough with the rest thing...especially after getting skunked at 3rd last night.
FYI, here is a link to some dude's blog that looks really helpful, especially the excercises he got from his PT (scroll down to #10).

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
As a "victim" of chronic tendonitis (i.e. the tenderness is there ALL THE TIME) I can tell you that it's one of those things that is just a part of our sport (esp. for over 30 caucasian males, who are apparently pre-despose to tendonitis).
If it doesn't go away for a couple of weeks, I'd see an orthepedist and ask for a cortozone shot. It's a miracle drug (if you don't over-use it).

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
I get the old tennis elbow after about 4hrs of heavy kiting w/ bar pressure. It will go away with rest, but the best solution is a few COLD BEERS! Obviously its best to be kiting in flat shallow water at this point as beers do not help swimming techniques but it does help power through the ol tennis elbow, not to mention kiteloops. You can also play with the adjustments on your kite to decrease the bar pressure. My .02c
