Injury at Alameda today

Someone was injured and the paramedics showed up right when I got to Alameda today. Seemed like it was a hip injury/dislocation or something like that -- I'm not totally sure. I tried to ensure he was comfy and he had someone there who deserves props for staying with him, gathering all his gear, etc. Hope there isn't a semi-abandoned car there now (if so, I'll do something, move it home, etc. if the guy needs a favor)...
Being a beginner out there at low tide today, I was a little worried about the lack of water depth -- 2' seems a little sketchy if you get tea-bagged from real high.
If someone has details on what happened, let me know. I'm trying to figure out if this injury was from the low water level and just learn more about risks out there.

So this was a case of a really unfortunate landing rather than shallow water. I dislocated the bone at the hip and other than feeling terrible from the morphine I'm pretty much all right. Thanks to everyone for helping.

hehe, no, more like couple months :). And I retract my previous statement, it must have been shallow water.

I almost did the same thing two weeks ago skiing in deep powder; wrapped one ski around a tree, spun around and hooked the other ski around another tree farther downhill. Then I fell back into the snow and I could feel my hip bone starting to pull out on one side (the uphill side, duh) until I was finally able to pop my binding.
Hurt like hell for two weeks. Get better soon.

Super_Monkey, I heard you threw a kiteloop in the shallows. Was it the loop that did it or landin in the water? I can't tell based on your post. I would like to know as I threw my first jump/kiteloop today and snapped my chicken loop line (it was worn pretty thin already). If that trick warrants misplaced hips I may need to think twice. ;) If it was due more to the shallows that would make more sense.
Any tips for what not to do when doing a kiteloo? :) Maybe that's a better question to ask. Thanks.

I've been really trying to figure out exactly what happened because I don't remember hitting the bottom but I can't see the impact of board to water beeing hard enough to cause that injury. I'll stick with my leg hitting the ground. So what you shouldn't do is anything in waist deep water.
I think the most important thing is commitment. Pop when you feel the kite is just about to lift you up. In the air, extend your body just like in a railey and before landing bring your bar to the hip that marks the direction you are going to be riding away in.

Good kiteloops are super powerful so gear should be tip top :)
