March

Post by anywaythewindblows » Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:18 pm

The sun is brilliant in the sky but its warmth does not reach my face.
The breeze stirs the trees but leaves my hair unmoved.
The cooling rain will feed the grass but will not slake my thirst.
It is all inches away but further from me than my dreams.

- M. Romeo LaFlamme, The First of March

How is La Ventana this time of year? I'm thinking of heading down from March 18-25.

I hit La V last year at the start of March and it was great -- only one day couldn't kite (because it was blowing 40+).

Bruce Sheldon says most years it blows the whole month of March but most people quit coming down, which gives you more space on the water but less of an audience (whatever floats your boat).

Let one of the most famous Brazilian singers grace our spring with good winds: ¡guas de MarÁo (Waters of March):

I don't know. March doesn't seem to be coming in like a lion at all. What happened to our "clearing" winds??

Leanne, I bet anyone who was stuck on I-80 in the Sierra on Sunday (like me!) or who's been in the snow in the last four days would have to disagree with THAT statement.

Almost 10 ft. of snow in a week, that's a pretty loud roar if you ask me.

Clearing winds hit the coast on Wednesday(at least at Dillon); they only lasted a day, but that's pretty normal for a winter storm. They don't always make it further south or into the bay.

March came in like a lil' ol' lamb today at Waddell. Perfect 12-meter weather and small, hollow waves downwind of the creekmouth. Easy livin'...

Pure bliss I'm tellin' ya'. :tonqe:

Cravin' a waveboard. (Why is the board called a Rocketfish when it has a squash-tail? Isn't a fish, by definition, a split tail, a twin-pin?) Anyway, 5'10" should do nicely. After a number of attempts to wave-ride there on twin-tips, I am willing to concede that I don't (yet) have the right tools.

(DUH! you're thinking?) I hope I remember how to jibe...

Directional riders ruled today, fo' sho'. Killer March afternoon at Big Basin.
Go bigga'
