* The World Speed Sailing Record Council announces ratification of a new world record for the Kitesail nautical mile. On October 30, 2006, British sailor Rob Munro set a speed of 35.65 knots at Walvis Bay, Namibia, using a "Cape Doctor Custom" board with a 10m Naish Raven kite. The previous record was 35.44 kts by Dirk Hanel, GER at Walvis Bay, Namibia in Oct 2005 -- John Reed, Secretary to the WSSR Council

After pulling Greg on his jet ski at about that speed, I can only imagine what that would be like on a kite.

Serously, when the conditions are right...
And wait, isnt the speed record 49..something, I know thats only 500m but what if..

I think that's one of those things where unless you're there in real life you have no way of appreciating how fast that is. even in video, it'd be hard to have a good point of reference.

My calculations come out to 41 mph! He must have been on glass behind some wind break... no?

I am still trying for the speed record... Here are some pics of my new riding spot.... Super flat... Day before yesterday I was on a 7m and a 134 with HUGE concave... got going so fast I was scared...
