Want to demo the Rhino 2007?

Post by zgur » Wed Jan 31, 2007 4:28 pm

If you are interested in riding the kite that is getting a lot of buzz, you need to head down to La Ventana. Baja Joes has 2 demo kites, 10m and 14m for you to drool over and enjoy.

In a few short weeks, a demo kite should be available in the bay area from your local North Rider - me.

As if you needed more reasons to head down south......(let's see: now storm winds in bay/ocean, few clearing days, plunty of cold air, limited snow in Tahoe......)

Get some, Z.

Sounds like your samokin a fattie.

I havent flown it yet but i did lay it out and it looks similar to a rebel but has subtle differences, reinforcements like a mofo, no center strut, 2 pump system with a tube that is integrated into the LE for strut inflation, this seemed to have 2 inflation points on left and right of center main le inflation point. Looks nice, no pulleys, bar is same but one very noticable thing was the thick ass new lines North uses??????????? Anyone flying foil kites knows this is not good news for light wind kites. Maybe it isnt that noticable with LEI's but I wonder what the reasoning is-higher breaking strength? China found a way to make a comparable product for less? Less sharp on the hands?

Either way I have heard it is a Rebel on steroids, which sounds good and is not descriptive enough for me but I definately am getting one unless it turns out to be utter crap like the LINK. ooops, did I say that?

I haven't seen the North 2007 5th element bar yet, but I heard they were using "better" lines that don't tangle as much. Apparently they are coated with something that makes them less apt to tangle? This isn't really a bit issue. I hope it's not a "bad" improvement.

"Rebel on Steroids." Gotta love kite marketing! :)

I guess that would make sense, larger diameter. They are noticably fatter lines though. Oh well, I made a fort out of my ol' slingshot tonight as I needed an excuse to pump a kite up. I think 5 psi is adequate for livingroom kite forts.

Yuri,
That is GREAT! And having a REAL girl that will play with you is the BEST!!
Did you tie your Doll up with all that string, or did it go the other way around? If not, PLEASE lie to me...
I loved playing Bondage Barbie as a kid, sadly I think Mary would bash me over the head with a book if I even suggested such a thing to her now..
Never grow up! :tonqe:

North 2007 Bar

Post by zgur » Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:20 am

Have ridden this bar for about 20 sessions. Some of the improvements over 2006 include:
* Cleat is bomber with zero slip
* Depower line really easy to grap
* Bar is longer - turns kite faster
* Lines are a few meters shorter, kite turns faster
* lines are braided, and do not tangle - has been tested in the waves ;-)...limited tangles are easy to take apart due to color coding.

Sweet set up fo sho!

Get some, Z.
