So Big Dave, how many times does this make for you kiting at SI this winter? I got so used to the idea of Sherman being "closed for the winter" in flood years that I kinda forgot about it as a potential spot. But the sensor reading from yesterday looked better than anyplace else in the Bay.

I might have to meet you down there during one of these no-rain storms we've been having. It sure was alot warmer there yesterday than it is today at Folsom (Wind chill 25-30 degrees!).

It was cold at 3rd but a few folks were out, more windsurfers than kiters.

PauLittle,

That makes for 3 killer sessions in December and January there (and a few I missed.) I used to cancel my iW pager service in the winter months since as you mentioned "the river is CLOSED"!

Next time, just read the graph and GO. Indian Bob stands at the ready to launch in the off-season (nice guy that he is) and it's well worth the annual parking fee.

Yesterday was just as good as any summer day in terms of wind, swell and water texture. It was not that cold for a Walrus-type. Water level is VERY high though, with literally NO beach at the 3rd island. Barely could spot the slider, lurking and waiting...

But, ahhhh, that refreshing swim in was just the ticket. The kite pictured at the left is not going to be flying anytime soon I'm afraid. Keeps us honest, humble and respectful of the elements. Today seems FAR colder to those who are riding I will guess.
Go bigga'

Narls, yes, I thought it would be too north, and was thinking it was a day to launch at the toll plaza, but when I stopped at the pt E, and it looked so fine ... the picture .... I would say it was NW maybe NNW ... from the north (East?) end of the beach, you could just clear the pt and head for Emeryville marina.

Awesome at third around noon today, but chilly.

BigD,
I will see you there next time, then. Looks to be good on Z coast today, but I still have Z flu.
