Need a smaller kite

OK, I hope I'm not opening up a "can o worms" but I thought I would throw this out to the group.

I am now rideing up wind and generally having a great time... Windsurfing for the past 20 years at Sherman and now rideing for the past couple of months.

I currently ride mainly at Sherman and have 2 kites.

1. 2005 RRD 16m
2. 2006 GK Sonic 11m

Till now all I have used is my Sonic 11m in winds from 13mph to about 23mph Till now it has worked perfectly.

I want to be able to go out in winds of 23mph to just around 30mph max.
I don't need to go fast, I really like going kind of slow up and down wind, not getting air yet.

I am now thinking of getting a nice used 2005 "C" kite in good condition for not more than $400 with bar & lines.

So what make, model and size should I look at?

I weigh about 170 and am getting much better each day I ride. Up wind is no problem even in a flood... I currently ride a Litewave 135 x 41

As always, thanks for your help...

hmm, I've got an 8m WW Rage2 for sale at a really really good price in pristine condition. I don't believe that the kite has ever touched water unless Ollie dropped it before he sold it to me :).

Before I sell you my kite, please tell us which of your kites you like better: the Sonic or the ZH. They are different kites, with different feel and different flying charecrteristics..

I know you are just a beginner, but you have flown both and most likely can tell a difference.

I think the RRD is a ZH, high aspect kite, correct?

Z Man,

I have not as of yet flown the RRD ZH

I have flown a Boxer down in Mexico but really did not get any kind of feel for it as I was really a beginner.

I really like the Sonic but I now know what more traditional kiters say about it being kind if "twitchy" or a bit unstable.. It's really no big deal as I really have nothing to compair it to...
I do like the de-power and the fact that after 8 sessions on it (once I did learn to fly it) I have never once been pulled, flung, dragged, yanked... I just sheet out and de-power, even if I do a total "hot" launch.

I dod think i want my small kite to be a "C" shaped kite and I am thinking of getting a used RRD ZH 8m...

Thanks

OK, based on that, I think you would be very stoked on a Vegas 06 7m kite. It's the least twichy small kite I have flown, comes close to 100% depower like Sonics, and has a very positive feel in steering. It's the first small kite that a big guy like me can have fun riding.

There is a reason why you see so many vegas 06 kites in the air - they have a very refined feel and amazing range.

I'm selling my 7m in August.

You will have many choices to choose from - life is good.

If it's a 10m, I'll take it.
