When the wind is cranking like it has been and everyone is too busy to help. Here is how I self-launch at alameda.
at your own risk.
I place my dog on the wing tip and say Stay...stay...stay...
then when I am ready to launch i yell...."Come here boy"
It works with my 1 year old too.

As long as the dog does not mark the kite as his territory.

make sure your hook your lines up switched.... and stand way too far forward in the window, so when the kite launches, it drifts backwards for at least 20 feet......

I never wanted kids until now.
I like to get a beach goer to hold the chicken loop of my kite while I get it to sit just right up against the antenna. then I run over and grab the chicken loop and hook in, works everytime. I highly reccomend this for beginners.
And when you get downwind there is a new slider we put in just past the bird sanctuary. Check it out!
