Well, I went out with Nat @ Edge Kiteboarding yesterday and showed up with my windsurfing seat harness ready to go...

Nat imediately says that because of the type of strap closures / locks on this harness, the straps would come undone in a "Millisecond"...

Now I guess that they might have lasted a little bit longer but I get the general idea, it's time to go get a trus Kite Harness...

The next step is to ask all for you, as far as a seat harness, what do you reccomend?

I know I need to go out and try them but at least this way I can go into this with a general idea of what some people like.

Also, if you can inform me to things I should be looking for that would be great. Safety, comfort & preformance is what interests me the most.

What about the Harness / trunks I see some people out with? Is there some advantage to this kind of harness or does it mainly have a desired look?

Its mostly a personal fit. Some shops have a rope attached to a wall that allows you to hook in the harness and "sit" on it, so you can test it under pulling force. Seat harnesses normally do not interfere with a vest, but if you use a vest put it on when you try a harness just in case.

I am more looking for information regarding specific brands / harness models.

my favorite is the dakine tabu, its a waist harness that isn't as restrictive as others. The dakine pyro will be comfier at the cost of being bulkier.

The liquid force harness is pretty good this year.

Seat Harnesses are better for cruising, waist harnesses are better for mobility and tricks... all the pros wear waist harnesses....

but honestly, go to Delta Windsurf at sherman, and try on everything they have.... if you're not satisfied, go somewhere else and try on everything they have. You want the harness to be as tight as possible without restricting breathing...

if you get a dakine harness, make sure you buy a spreader bar pad. This will save you from crushed ribs... it's an extra $20 or so, which makes the DaKine harnesses significantly more expensive than harnesses that come with a pad. Kiting without a spreader bar pad (especially at the beginning) is a big mistake.

Other people will tell you they like their naish, north, wipika, prolimit, or other brand harnesses "the MOST". Just like I love my dakine tabu the most.... I'm sure they're all great but it's honestly a matter of which one fits your body proportions the best.

I don't know if the other brands do this, but my Da Kine Fusion seat harness has a pocket for a handy velcro knife that i have actually used once. I do recommend the spreader bar pad!!!

After testing many of the harnesses over the years we found the Mystic harnesses to be the best fitment for kiteboarding.
