I am still scared of the place being as though I know one day my kite will end up on those rocks. But the question is whether or not a south wind is a bad idea to kite there in. I know the shadow there is a bit awkward getting out,.

South wind is actually ok to kite in but because emmeryvile jets out so far into the bay it blocks a lot of the south wind and causes gusty conditions. Right now it is blowing more west which is on shore. It is not such a bad place to kite but you need to be powered. Unlike Alameda you can't walk back up wind. So if you are powered get as far upwind as you can and try to stay upwind of the beach for the first few times you kite there. The problem at Berkeley is the wind will die and die fast so it is better to be up wind of the launch so if the wind dies you can drift right back down wind to the beach. The problem I have is that it usually stops blowing at 5ish. Right when I get out of work.

Thanks. I went out there once and didnt have enough power and ever since havent returned as I just love a great alameda day more than anything. So are you still in for a glid order? I am getting close to start making some and need to know who I am making them for. I gotta work an exact cost but I am thinking $650 without pads is my target. If I wait a few weeks I can add sublimated graphics as the printers will be back online. Basically this means if you had a graphic you sent me I would have it laminated into the top or bottom sheet.

this is coming into my 3rd year living in berkeley, the marina is literally right down my street, and yet I havent even taken my kites to that spot , let alone even HINT at kiting point emery.
However, this season may be my first time, i went down there once and saw a patch of beach which looks big enough to launch.
For two years i thought the way you guys pulled it off was that someone held the kite in the parking lot while the kiter swam out in the water.
Then i went down there on my bike one day and saw that hidden beach and felt like an idiot. HAHA.
