Alameda today (Thurs) Yes or No ???

I want to get some time in on the water and we were thinking of going to Alameda (from Sacramento).

The Nat. Weather Service forcast looks pretty good with Small Crafts through tonight. But after reading it was not too good yesterday for beginners (which we are) I am questioning this move.

I am to the point it would just be good to get my new bow kite out and spend some time flying it.

What do you think?

Rich,
Come to Alameda early and stay late...
Wind came up several times yesterday, moved to the inside then outside then in...
Come prepared for the walk and you wont be disappointed.
I think so many riders are trying to avoid the walk that all they do is talk...
Get OUT THERE!!! Dont waste your time looking for perfect conditions, ride/WALK-ride/walk-ride/walk- RIDE/walk-RIDE/RIDE/ride/walk!!! THAT is how you progress,

It will be good to just get out there and get to know the gear, get my feet wet (so to speak)

Hope to see you there,

Rich

if the wind is not happening today then I'll give up hope for the rest of the year....
It's funny - last year a forecast like the one for today would have meant kiteable winds in Alameda. This year...not sure, things are a bit strange...

No, go to Sherman

If you are coming from Sacto, save some gas $ and hit Sherman - it will be closer to home and much better wind - guaranteed.

If you are a beginner and don't know how to deal w/the launch, hire Nat to give you a ride upwind. Well worth it. Will cost you less then drving all the way to Alameda and back.

Get some, Z.

Anybody headed to Berkeley this afternoon/evening? Tide too high to launch? I've never kited there, but it's a shorter drive than Alameda, especially if it's ultimately a drive for nothing....

My guess is that Alameda will have more reliable wind today.

Even if wind is lighter, it is starting to show SW instead of the
frustrating SSW which is only really good on nukin storm days.

Word on Berkeley: don't think of launching if sensor is reading
under 17mph average, unless you are competent enough to
handle tricky, holely wind with a big kite!.
Beach will be short
after 4pm

Something about these words coming from you that is overly depressing :(

Don't lose hope or we all will.
