Packing North Vegas 06

So the new vegas is kinda tricky to pack. Last time I put it away I barely was able to get it to fit.

I was going to re-pack it after throwing it in my board bag, and was like "hey, there are tons of North riders around", so I asked Sky what the trick was.

When you're rolling the kite tip-to-tip, keep the front leader line hanging out of the roll. Every couple rolls, pull it to keep the batten in line with the top of the leading edge.

Then, you should be able to fold it over enough and have it fit nicely in the bag.

the front pigtail...?
so you can pull it, and move the long tip batten towards the front
and all the cam battens and the tip battens line up!
then you can fold it
got it

Here is how Donny does it, works well too.

Instead of tip to tip, he goes tips to center.

Fold the wingtip diagonally so that the trailing edge part of the batten is pointing at the seam of the 2nd strut.

Then fold the tip/batten back towards what is now the end of the kite. So first fold the design is facing up, the fold back the design is facing down. Try to keep the batten as close to the leading edge as possible.

Now fold this section along the leading edge to the center. So it should be 12-16" sections maybe.

Repeat on the other side.

Same thing goes with the front pigtails, you can use them to pull in the batten/tip if it goes too far in the folds.

Fold the two sides over into one, find the edge of the batten, fold towards the leading edge. Visually check if it is too long for the bag, if so, look for those pigtails and pull the batten in.
