Alameda beach cleanup

A few of us brought a couple of handfuls of debris from the beach yesterday. I may be wrong but it seems like the crap in the water has stopped coming in. I was thinking after this next windy day tomorrow i would go there after work and go at it with a pair of pliers and a blow torch until it was nothing but smooth sand. Anyone want to help that would be great.

I was thinking wed. 5-6ish.

i was wondering if anyone would want to help contribute to renting a bobcat on treads such that the next low tide day we could move the majority of those rocks between the flags out? I dont see why that couldnt be accomplished. The big concrete blocks themselves would be a huge job but if we moved the crap in between I think it might seriously open up our playground. I notice, including myself, there are alot of days where at low-medium tide we head back towards the beach to make another attempt at avoiding the rocks. On the crowded days this would make it really easy to get out of the beginners way. It would also make is that much more safe for beginners to glide through that mine field of rocks. And it would also make it much less stressful to watch Chip and Ollie do kiteloops over that area.

It would probably be $300-500 for a day rental of such a rig. I would come up with a fair portion if neccessary. Maybe someone with contacts at the city could get permission(permit) from the city.

You need to check with city engineers first, as I think there
there is a reason that stuff is there, (tidal equalization channel
for canals). Not sure about that though.

Not impossible but I can't see how that little of a wall would do anything to change the water flow.

To clarify, I wasnt talking about the 2 blocks, just the jagged rocks in between them. I can tsee any purpose they serve.

Its common to pile rip rap on top of under-sand outfalls
to keep the sand from moveing away.
