it was a clear acknowlegement of red shift wave theory...
That is, Andy moving away from the observer would be viewed in a wave length lengthened and in that spectrum the water surface would become smoother which would enhance the passage of water across the planing surface of the board combining with the downward slope of the wave actually accelerate Andy to the speeds witnessed, and recorded in Hawking time. Since Andy knows science he probably used this knowledge to advantage to bugle my eyevballs
... And if Charlie can find something other than a twelve meter kite... Who knows?
