Charlie,

You should come over and give it a shot sometime. Bit of a drive, but something a bit different for you.

Say Mark -

How is the solo landing at the yard...and what minimum tide?

Hi Bob,

Well, it's not an easy launch and land - it's no Alameda.

Solo landing : best to walk in and dump the kite behind the iceplant area. There's a bunch of bushes that creates a bit of a wind shadow, so that when you land it, the kite stays.

Tides...........well even in minus tides you can kite, but you would have to walk out a hundred yards or so. Normally, though, there's enough water to get going right off the beach.

Tough launch........onshore with obstacles all over the place. Helps to have a Sonic with tons of depower.

Are you guys talking about Tomales Bay?

If it's a secret spot, I'll assume that a non-response means "yes".

no - not tomales....San Rafael by Peacock Gap.....The more people the better since the launch is sketch....not great conditions by any stretch....of course, I have only looked at it, and have not gone out....

Advanced launch is putting it mildly, hard on bare feet.

Hi, it was working on this South East wind The beach faces South.

So the wind is almost direct onshore.

Parking along the street, no bathroom, small beach with iceplant when fully high tide and no sand showing, shallow far out at low tide.

Some obstacles to avoid in the water downwind by the brick factory.

Gravel in the sand and some bigger rocks in the sand just off the beach, tuff on bare feet.

But great riding once you get out. Not a place to make a mistake in launching or landing.

Better riding than Berkeley, but poorer beach.

I will go again!
