So I took out my trainer kite for the first time this last weekend and I've had trouble untwisting the lines after recovering from a crash. How can you tell which way to spin to unwind the lines? I try twisting one way but it turns out to be the wrong way so I start spinning the other way and by the time I've got the lines clean the kite's crashed again :|
Thanks for your help

Once you crash the kite try and spin the bar one way (and if that doesnt work... then the other way) before you relaunch it to sort your lines out.... other than that, just try and visualize the way your kite is turning when crashing and remember to go the other way when you relaunch.
Sorry I know that doesn't sound like much help but basically once you fly enough you"ll develop a kind of 6th sense of whats happening to your kite and it will never be a problem you'll just know....

yeah i guess its something that just comes with practice
Other than that I've had a great time flying the kite :P

It really is just practice and then memory and then muscle memory. It starts with the trainer then progresses to your kites and then you'll (hopefully) get to a point while kiting on the water, even during some of your biggest, gnarliest wipeouts, even when you're backwards and upside down in the water, or underwater, or covered in whitewater you will know which way to pull your bar to avoid complete disaster...

Just remember that you will always turn you bar the way you last turned your kite. If you did 1 clockwise loop, then you would do 1 clockwise bar spin to "catch-up" to the twist.

So true..... I can recall many a wipeout when all hell was breaking loose and I was underwater flying ass first and upsidedown only to find out when I get my head above water my kite is sitting nicely parked above me ready to go again! Never need to even think about what to do anymore its just there evertime....

plus if you have a chickenloop, you can just hook in and let go of the bar.... not so useful on a trainer kite, but it's the reason most kiters don't have to think too hard about untwisting.
