On a lighter note!

On November 7 of last year I was snowboarding on fresh snow. That is less then a month away! I also remember posts that Gabe was snowkiting in Tahoe. I am ready to hit some rails and jumps in the near future on the mountain or under a kite. There is a new season coming!!! Soon Sherman and Rio will just be a place you drive by while heading for the mountains. Try snowkiting this year. It's like kiteboarding before it got so crowded!! Hurry before it's too late!

I wanna try.

When the season comes around, post up and let us know where and when.

Maybe you can take us noobs up and show us the ropes?

I haven't been snowboarding in a while. Always hitting trees or dislocating elbows.

How do you gear up? I think I'm too fat to get my harness around my jacket.
Do you put your board on first before you launch? Launch from sitting position?

This will be my first season snowkiting. I tried last year but always got skunked. This year I will be up there a lot more so I will have a good chance to get some. I have an old foil to play around with and my good old inflatabes for when I get better. I'll post pictures and stories as I get them.

I will be up there too. Got my 2 frenzy's and stick a Juicy Fruit....

Eric,
try searching in the snow forum for posts from gabe last winter. He had some good tips.
most people put the board on first unless you have clickers or something. Even Flow bindings are not fast enough to engauge after getting the kite up.
yes jacket adds to your girth. I think ultra necter makes a jacket with a hole in front for spreader bar to stick out.
yes usually lauch from sitting position (at least for me in the 2 times i did it last year)

Me too. Got my 10M FS foil. I'm gonna get me some AT bindings for my skis so I can hike to where the wind is this year (Red Lakes Ridge!) instead of doing the hit or miss thing at lower elevations. Hiking with 2 LEI kites on your back isn't much fun, either.

Hey, Pipe, my first day on the snow last year was Halloween, a powder day at Sugarbowl.

I don't think we're gonna hit that this year, though. If it does, I'm ready!
