Kite color choices?
Post
by David (guest) » Wed May 04, 2005 4:15 pm
I'm a newbie, and still unsure how deep I'm gonna dive in (but the hook has certainly been set!) So, I'm browsing around at all these sites that sell kites, and I've yet to see anyone offer the option of a color scheme or choice of that nature. Now when I'm gonna drop between $500 and $1000+ on a kite, I'd like to have a choice about how it looks. Call it a style thing, or a personal taste thing, or just an idiosyncrasy. So, what's up with this? Do I need to know the secret handshake before I get a color choice?
cheers,
David

i thought i was the only one was was (somewhat) picky about color :P
windwing -- only 1 color per size for rage II and outrage; you can pick one of two color schemes for the rapture (put it in extra notes before checkout)
best -- i think you can request color options
rrd -- if buying through evan at live2kite, you can probably call him directly to see what colors they have.
other brands -- if buying retail, just check what's in stock!

Kites would be more expensive if you wanted more color options.

i believe that the problem is the availablity of kite material is constantly changing..... It's difficult (expensive) for a kite company to know what colors they will have available. So instead of choosing, you get what they have.
that said.. most places will let you state your color preferences when you order. If you want something they don't have you just have to wait longer.

Thanks. I figured it was a materials issue. That's pretty much the same story with stunt kites, although they use WAAY less fabric.
So, what are the WW Rage II colors? (If they're static)
Thanks again to all of you for your replies.
cheers,
David

You should get a color that goes well with the wetsuit. You don't want to look like a clown out there with all the girls on the beach. :)
Most wetsuits are black, and chrome goes well with it. Get a Hellfish.
